Valley – Our verdict
Bringing run-and-jump gameplay back to the scene, we had very high hopes for Valley, and just like the old Nintendo games, everything is more fun when you’re running fast but pretty boring when everything starts to slow down. Some people will like the change of pace but for us it’s all too often. Valley’s first person, much-suit-powered platforming gets its excitement from playing with momentum – running down a hill will pick up speed, letting you launch yourself across colossal gaps. There’s just not enough of it. One thing we did love, however, was the scenery and the visuals are definitely the best I’ve seen on a run-and-jump game, but it just isn’t addictive like Sonic or Mario. It certainly won’t grab the cult following either, but it’s a nice example of a modern day run and jump game, we can’t really say anything more than that. One for the collection if you’re looking to try something different, but not a game we’ll look back on with fond memories.
