It seems like yesterday when the next gen consoles were released, but we already have plenty of games to choose from, while some games are still being released on the Xbox One and the Playstation 4. Game prices are now at a record high (on next gen consoles) and it means people are now choosing their games more wisely than ever before.
Many shops have discontinued their pre-owned video game service, while games can be purchased online at reasonable prices, especially if they’re used. Many online marketplaces have made it easier than ever to purchase games and sell games, while dispatch is incredibly fast.
2014 is already proving to be a big year for games, and so far the chart toppers include South Park: The Stick of Truth, Thief and The Lego Movie Videogame. Sports games have now come on leaps and bounds and gameplay looks more real, athletes seem more believable, and many benefit from a powerful engine, such as FIFA 2014 on the Xbox One and the PS4.
Nintendo Wii U games tend to be falling behind the likes of Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and it’s fair to say that people expected a bit more from Nintendo, and the fact is there are not a great deal of games to choose from, and perhaps that is why sales have not seemed to pick up in the last year or so.
Gamers tend to have a lot more precaution today when they’re buying games and this is mainly down to the significantly higher prices. However, games tend to include more features, and one gamer may only play several games throughout the year, because there are so many different elements to enjoy. Grand Theft Auto V is a game that not only benefits from a superb hollywood-esque storyline, it also benefits from superb online gameplay.
Over the next few years we’re likely to see games on the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One faze out, while the growing competition picks up once more on the new consoles with more features, longer storylines and plenty of online multiplayer modes.
