Why Is Fortnite So Popular?

Why is Fortnite so popular? Well let’s get into the Battle Royale game mode and see why…

Battle Royale game modes typically take place on fairly large maps. At the beginning of the game, around 50–100 players skydive/parachute down into the map, depending on when they decide to jump out of what is usually an airplane flying straight across the map. The players all drop in with nothing except for the clothes on their body; no weapons, no armor. All weapons and armor are semi-randomly spread out across the map. Typically map designs will have different drop rates for different areas of the map, so that certain areas will tend to have better weapons/armour than others.

After a certain period of time has elapsed, a circle forms around a randomized area of the map. If players do not get to this circle in time, they will begin to lose health and quickly die. After the playable area of the map has collapsed into this circle, a smaller circle will appear, with the process repeating until there is either one player or one team left standing.

The game format works because it gives you freedom in the way you approach the game. You could technically win a game by not defeating any other players. You could also win the game by gunning down every other player you run into.
