Steam Sales and Empty Wallets

Valve, the videogame development house behind games like Half Life, Counter Strike and Left 4 Dead, are also the bright minds behind Steam; an online program, store front and community hub for millions of PC gamers around the world. A few years ago Valve decided to have a Steam Christmas Sale; thousands of games with huge discounts across a couple of weeks from late December to early January.

Players flocked to Steam; spending hundreds of thousands world wide and encouraging more and more developers and publishers to put their products onto Steam, and discount them. Since then Steam has flourished; with millions more users since that day, and thousands more games being added every year. Also since that sale Steam now has New Year Sales, Easter Sales, weekly deals, daily deals and Thanksgiving sales. Unfortunately the quality and diversity of the sales has decreased; but as long as users are saving money they won’t mind.
